Therapy is an investment in caring for yourself and for your relationships. Much like spending money on a gym membership, or massage, or a meditation app, or on vacations, therapy can provide emotional peace of mind, healing for your relationships, healing of trauma, and so much more.
When I am able to charge a living wage, I can care for myself much in the same way. I care for myself so I am able hold space for you during sessions. When you work with me you’ll have a reserved appointment time either weekly or biweekly to work toward the goals we create together. I ask for your commitment to our work through your regularly scheduled appointments and fees per session.
Sliding Scale
In order to make therapy more affordable, I do currently offer two slots for $50 per 50-minute session through Open Path Collective (OPC). To see if I currently have availability for one of these spots, visit https://openpathcollective.org/clinicians/pamela-peters/. If my profile states that I have availability, you can join Open Path Collective for a lifetime membership fee of $65. Feel free to browse around and see if I’m the right fit. Open Path has some amazing clinicians offering lower rate spots. If you decide to schedule with me, follow the instructions to become an OPC member and reach out to me to schedule a free 15-minute consult telephone or video call.
Cancellation Policy
Life does happen and sometimes you’ll need to reschedule or even cancel an appointment. I ask for 24 hour notice. If you cancel inside that 24 hours, I will need to charge you your full session fee. I will make every attempt to reschedule the cancelled session for some other time during the same work week. But if we cannot find a time that works I will charge the full session fee. You may cancel by voice mail, text, or email.

Reasons that I do not accept health insurance
For confidentiality and diagnosis reasons, I choose not to work with health insurance companies. Most insurance companies require clients be given a diagnosis . When you are given a diagnosis, it can have long-term implications for individuals as it relates to employment, housing, custody, and so on.
In addition to a diagnosis, insurance companies also require information to be reported to them about your treatment plan and progress. I would rather work with my clients without needing to meet insurance company requirements. This ensures greater confidentiality for you and more flexibility in how we work together.
If you want to try to get partial reimbursement, I am happy to provide a detailed Superbill.
Starting in 2022 you now have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the 2022 law, health care providers must give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for non-emergency medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
